HAND-TURNED WOODLAND TREES

Dendrology is the study of trees. It is derived from the Greek word for tree: dendron. I study grain, texture, color, and form.
After years of turning large bowls, hollow forms, chess sets, and other decorative pieces, I began exploring a different side of woodturning — small objects.
Working at this scale opened a new world of materials and ideas. Branches, shrub trees, invasive species, and even grapevines reveal surprising grain, texture, and character when shaped on the lathe.
What started as an experiment has become a creative frontier, where even the smallest piece of wood can become something worth keeping.
